Ascend Job Readiness Training
Ascend Center for Learning has a relatively new job training program that is available to people of all ages. They also provide GEDs but job training is separate from that.
Job Readiness Training is for potential participants who have a GED or who are working toward their GED. Classes Include Business Communications, Computer Literacy, Job Search Skills, Business Math, Resume Writing, and Interviewing Skills.
What to expect: The free classes are open-enrollment, and can be done full-time or part time. They are open M-F to 3. You must attend an orientation held on Thursdays at . Once you decide you really want their job skills training, you can be enrolled and in class within a week.
What you need: Student must be 17 or older (no age limit), a resident of Travis County, have an ID, and be a US citizen or have proof of eligibility to work. You must make less than 200% of the federal poverty income guideline.
