Goodwill Job Counseling

Goodwill Job Source offer case management, job search assistance, and in some cases job training to those who need it. We believe it's one of the most underutilized resources for our clients in Austin.

We're not going to lie to you... it's not an instant fix, and it's not always simple to get into. However, they do more work than anyone we know to help asses what your capabilities are, help figure out what your possibilities are, work with you to interview better, search for hidden jobs more effectively, and to help hold you accountable for moving forward to get a job and get off the street. If they don't feel you can be employed, they will work with you to get training. If you have any type of disability, they will work with you to find something that works.

What to expect:
You need to go to one of their intake facilities to sign-up the first time. You can do that at many locations where they accept walk-ins.You'll fill out an in-take form. You do need an ID. Give them an email to contact you. Give them a phone to contact you. If you don't have a phone, give them our number but explain that it's a message line. You will not get job help or placement on your first visit!

It takes two or three week for them to get back to you after intake. That seems like a very long time, but they have a lot of different programs and it takes then that long to figure out the best fit for you. They have special programs for those under 21. They have special programs for those with certain disabilities. And they work with people who don't meet those criteria, too. It might even take two visits to get hooked up with the right people, but it's going to be worth it.

What you need:
You need your ID. You need an email address It helps to have a phone. You'll need a few weeks to get started .You'll need to be able to go to one of their sites once a week for case management. They don't have a place for dogs during your visit so you'll have to make other arrangements.
